Christmas was celebrated this year like it has been in the past. Eve with my family in Connecticut and Christmas Day with Hubby's family in Pepperell. I have to say that the highlight of my holiday was my present from Hubby. The Tuesday before Christmas I noticed that a envelopment appeared on the tree with my name written on it. I took the envelope off the tree to feel and see if it was sealed. It was sealed well and flat (no gift card) so I could not peak. As I was putting it back on the tree, it knocked off a awesome glass Dunkin Donut ornament that a co-worker gave me. The ornament shattered in a MILLION pieces and glass was everywhere. Yeah Karma is a biach.
On Christmas Day I opened my envelopment (the wait was killing me because I hate surprises). When I opened the envelope there was a letter with pictures of the awesome bulbs I blogged about here and a message that read "Beautiful flowers for my beautify bride". He even picked out some bulbs on his own (see below). He has been reading my blog and saw the posting where I mentioned the bulbs. It was such a thoughtful, perfect gift. I am so fortunate and blessed to have such a wonderful, loving husband.
Asiatic Lily (Dutchbulbs.com)New Years Eve
For the past 5 yrs Hubby and I have hosted a NYE's party. We typically make many appetizers and a main course. This year it was my lasagna and Hubby's smoked brisket. We were nervous that we were going to have tons of food and no guests because of the snow storm. The weather did not hold all the guests back and it was a successful party. I was fortunate enough to have my sisters come up and ring in the new year again. I wish that we lived closer so we could see each other more often, but I appreciate when they come to visit us.

Hannaford's wanted to charge $17.99 for this veggie platter. I made mine for about $10

New Years Day
I always feel a bit blue on New Years Day. I think that it is because two reasons, first - the holidays are such a festive and happy time, it is sad to know that it is over. Second - winter has charm during the holiday season. White Christmas, blah blah blah. New Years Day always makes me realize that winter is just beginning, without the charm of the holidays to get me through it.
It is my habit to remove all indoor Christmas decor on New Years Day. To honor the 2008 tree, here are a few more ornament shots:
Hard to believe this year will be our 3rd wedding anniversary

Santa says "Cheers!"

Everything has been packed up and put away except this snowman. I got him at Kohls and his glitter shoes make me smile. To justify his extended stay I've told myself that snowman is winter decor, not a Christmas item.

I do not typically make resolutions for the New Year, but in 2009 there are definitely areas that I can work on (MBA lingo, Opportunities for Improvement). Here are my OFIs:
-Be a better listener (especially with Hubby)
-Improved time management in regards to completing school work
-Eat smaller portions
Will I succeed?

Hopefully so

Great post...you will succeed. I am sad I was not invited to your lasagne bonanza on NYE. Sigh... : )
