Check It

I was asked not to forget about my blog, so I must write. Here is a quick update.

• First off, I am addicted to Google Reader and check it a million times a day for new updates on the blogs and various reading materials I have subscribed to.
• I was totally unaware that people blogged "semi-professionally". I mean I know that various websites like the WSJ have incorporated blogs into their repertoire (which still follow some rules of responcible journalism) but I didn't realize until now that there is this sub-culture and fan following for everyday Joe's like me. Weird.  Note I will not have "Guest" bloggers on my site while I am away.
• So I received feedback that meeting friends on Craigslist was weird, so I took a different route. I have organized a local boxer playgroup, so far consisting of 4 other owners. We are going to meet for the first time this Monday to let our boxer run free. Hopefully this will be an opportunity to meet some new people in the area with at least one similar interest (i.e. boxers). I would like to credit Amy as my muse. She talked about how it is hard to meet people our age without kids.......that turned the light bulb on because my dog is basically my kid.
• I bought my textbooks today for Fall Semester. Wow my month off flew by. Now it is time to enjoy the last two weekends of the summer (Class for me begins on the 8th) and get back into the swing of things.
• Lastly, I was in a pretty bad funk this afternoon. Oddly enough it is my career path that tends to put me in these moods and the feeling doesn't come too often (so I shouldn't complain). I start questioning choices I made and coming down hard on myself for not being ambitous, smart, innovative and successful enough. Luckily the mood passes by as quickly as it comes, but it still does a number on me while it is here.
