What a gorgeous day! I went to the HD and bought some lovely Dalia's and Day Lilly bulbs to add to my garden collection. This year's gardening experience is much more fulfilling then Spring 2007. Those who don't know, my 2007 spring gardens were ruined by Pepe La Pew (sorry for the f'in up the French).

Last spring as I watched my tulips pop up I was very excited to see the return on my investment of soreness from planting dozens of bulbs in the Fall 2006. I would wake up every morning and look forward to seeing how far they had come along. Just before the blooming stage, I started waking up to find the heads popped off, innards eaten and petals discarded. EVERY SINGLE ONE! I was told by a gardening pro that skunks love tulips and since they are nocturnal that was probably my culprit. So last fall with reservations I replanted more bulbs knowing that the skunks would just eat them. BUT ALAS......tulips are blooming, no Marie Anntoinettes, what has changed? I credit Oakley with my success. This time last year he was just a pup, but now he is a full grown boy who has clearly marked his territory. I think that his urine has kept the skunks away from my flower beds although I have no proof.........and no he does not pee in the gardens. I love my dog! Alright, that is enough boring chatter, later!

You guys will love this...my mother was having trouble with deer eating her shrubs and flowers so she had my father 'mark the territory'. I kid . you not. She had him go and pee, outside in the gardens all summer. Thankfully their yard is kind of private. Kind of.
