Saturday projects

The hubby and I decided to get a dumpster this past weekend. Last fall Hubby had decided to do some demo in our cellar which resorted to our backyard becoming a scrap yard for old wood, concrete, and other trash. Very sexy, very trashy, and very New Hampshire. Plus Hubby wanted to gut the porch cause it is a mess. Back when we upgraded our kitchen in the Fall of 07 we had rented a dumpster and it was sooooooo convenient and not too pricey considering we don't own a truck to haul crap to the dump and getting guys to take stuff away costs almost as much but with a significantly smaller amount of junk taken away. So on Thursday, this awaited in our drive way....

Now I thought that we were going to have so much excess room in this thing, because we don't have that much trash, right?

One of the fun things about owning a house is discovering all the issues with it. I would say this is limited to old houses but I know friends that deal with issues on refurbished/renovated properties. We knew the porch had some issues, leaky roof, crappy windows etc. But when the interior panels were removed, we realized that the owner had plastered the ceiling which had been eaten away over the years, probably from the leaky roof, also there was some slight insect damage which was inactive but still will need to be fixed. We really do not use the porch for more than a pass through and make-shift dump. But we would like it to be more, a breakfast nook, a place to sit and chat, etc.

Yes hubby is vacuuming the side walk

Here is hubby in his "haz mat" suit preparing to treat the porch, Oakley wants his own goggles

Hanging baskets that I made myself a few weeks ago, they are filling in nicely
